Fondamenta S.p.A., founded in 1993 and based in the heart of Milan, has always been distinguished by its high engineering content. From its inception, it has focused on the development and application of innovative technologies. With an in-house technical office and highly specialized personnel, Fondamenta offers a comprehensive service from design to implementation and testing. With over 30 years of experience, it can execute all types of special works, from small urban interventions to large infrastructure projects.
The company originated as an evolution of SOGEFON, a company specialized in underground works since 1963, and incorporates PENATI and TITANIA, significant and historic companies in the sector.
Today, Fondamenta S.p.A. has about 240 employees distributed between its headquarters in Milan, the warehouse-workshop in Zibido San Giacomo, and construction sites across the national territory. The hallmark of the company’s activity is the decision to carry out the work exclusively with its own personnel and machinery, thus being able to control the entire production cycle with maximum efficiency, from design to execution, and to intervene promptly in the face of any necessity.

For over thirty years, Fondamenta has represented excellence in specialist underground works, offering complete solutions that include the management of excavations, waterproofing, and concrete foundations. Thanks to our extensive experience, highly qualified personnel, and technologically advanced machinery, we are leaders in ensuring unparalleled efficiency and quality in the results achieved.
Our main office is located at Via Turati 26, Milan, and includes management, technical, and administrative offices. Our operational base, instead, extends to Zibido San Giacomo (MI) at Via Verdi 3, and includes a complete workshop, the machinery park, and the warehouse for spare parts and materials.
Activities and Specializations
Fondamenta stands out for its ability to operate with internal resources in almost all underground works. From feasibility analysis to design and testing, our annual turnover, stable between 60 and 70 million euros, testifies to our positioning among the leading companies in Italy, with a strong presence, especially in northern Italy.
With over 1000 completed contracts since 1993, Fondamenta has left its mark on some of the most important Italian infrastructures, covering a wide spectrum of projects in both the public and private sectors, from roads and highways to subways, bridges, and railways.
Our competences
Thanks to the vast expertise acquired over the years, we also operate in delicate interventions in urban contexts and within buildings, with particular attention to preserving structural integrity. Our flexibility in adapting each situation to specific needs allows us to carry out interventions in any context. From the design phase to testing, we have specialized in load tests up to 3000 tons, providing high-level engineering support.
In recent years, we have responded to market needs by opening a division dedicated to turnkey civil works, with a particular focus on underground parking. Among the most significant projects are the multifunctional center in Pero (MI) and two parking lots in Milan. An ambitious project is currently under construction in Via Maffei, also in Milan, where we are applying the top-down technique for a 550-space parking lot.
Fondamenta S.p.A. operates throughout Italy and abroad
Among the numerous works executed by Fondamenta S.p.A. in recent years, we mention the foundation piles of the San Giorgio Bridge (formerly Ponte Morandi) in Genoa, the piles for the Monaco land extension project (called Anse du Portier), the work for CERN in Geneva, the ground consolidation works by injections for various Milan Metro lines 1, 4, and 5, and the AV-AC Brescia East – Verona line construction site (CepavDue).
Today, Fondamenta S.p.A. is one of the main national players in the execution of all types of foundation works: piles with different technologies, diaphragms, micropiles, ties, injections, tunnel consolidations, and jet grouting.
Fondamenta S.p.A. is capable of covering all types of underground works and, thanks to a consolidated technical and engineering structure, follows the client from the design phase to testing, where it has specialized in carrying out load tests up to 3000 tons.
With a solid footprint in Italy and a vision aimed at European expansion, Fondamenta embodies excellence in underground works, from feasibility analysis to realization and testing. Our annual turnover, fluctuating between 60 and 70 million euros, attests to our leadership role in the sector, with a marked presence in Lombardy and operations that span all of Italy and beyond, reaching southern France, the Principality of Monaco, Slovenia, and CERN in Geneva.
